Brief Introduction - |
Riposte (pronounced re-post) is the name of my band, although
I wouldn't really call it a band. There's only 1 member.. me.. and
so everything related to this 'band' is also done by me. All the songs
I've made have been done completely on my computer, with no other external
devices (except for a couple of samples off my shitty accoustic guitar,
recorded using a mic... pretty lame... and a few Yamaha AN1X syth samples
my brother just happened to leave on my computer... mmm..) All these songs
I've put together in my spare time over the past months using a very nice
program called Acid. Acid is an audio-sample sequencer that can support
as many channels as you desire, which is quite remarkable. Prior to getting
my hands on Acid, I was using Cubase XT... which only supports 8 audio
channels (yeah, it has midi, but that's not the point). Unfortunately this
sucked considering 99% of my music is wave audio. So anyway, since I've
had my honey (Acid) I've been churning out songs faster than ever. I've
gone back through my old basement of half-done songs and left-over wave
files, pieced them all together, and come out with an outbreak of music.
In the past 4 months I've made 20 complete songs, which is pretty damn
astonishing from where I'm sitting. Conclusion? My first album... well..
my first attempt at an album. A 14 track vocal-less onslaught of fiddling
and experimenting. Oh, I suppose I should say what genre of music it is,
shouldn't I? Well, to tell you the truth, (trying very hard not to sound
clichèd) I couldn't put it in one. But if you really want to give
it a try, stick it in the "weird and erratic experimenta industrial/techno"
music category. Ah, and no pop here either. Now that I've just bought myself
a decent microphone I'm going to start adding lyrics to these songs ( yeah,
I can sing a little). I've already written some, so now I just need
to get me some practice. Anyway, that's enough.. |
